Cayuga Chamber Orchestra: Chamber Music Series #6
Sunday, October 8, 2017 Unitarian Church, Ithaca / 4:00 PM
DOHNÁNYI: Serenade for String Trio, Op 10 DAHL: Concerto a tre for Clarinet, Violin, and Cello SMETANA: Piano Trio in G Minor, Op 15
FOLLOW THE CCO MUSICIANS through the wonderfully rich world of chamber music. This intimate setting creates a musical experience far greater than the simple sum of the parts. The season begins with a powerfully emotional composition by Smetana, composed after the death of his daughter, alongside lesser-known gems by Dahl and Dohnanyi.
For this season, we'll offer a special treat with receptions intended to complement the music. It will be a wonderful way to spend an afternoon with memorable music, regional wine and beer tastings, and fellow music lovers!
Chamber music is often described as bringing together the best of both worlds. It allows each individual player to have an artistic voice while also having the joy of collaborative music-making. This intimate setting creates a musical experience far greater than the simple sum of the parts. Since 1987, the CCO has proudly presented a concert series devoted entirely to chamber music and we hope you'll join us for these programs that celebrate music that moves us.
