The Grass is Dead
Originally formed in South Florida in 1998, The Grass is Dead are one of the original pioneers of the Bluegrass/Grateful Dead genre. Billy Gilmore, founding member of The Grass is Dead has cultivated a dedicated fan base for many years throughout his home state. The past two years have seen them ramp up their touring schedule extensively. In the summer of 2015 they decided to follow the Grateful Deads 50 year anniversary Fare Thee Well Tour and play various after parties and pre-parties across the country. They have developed a strong recognition in places as far north as Buffalo, NY and as far west as Denver, CO. The festival season of 2016 saw the Grass is Dead playing the Baygrass Bluegrass Festival, Leftover Salmons Blue Ridge Jam, Hickory Fest, Cornstock Fest, Roots Revival, Suwannee Hulaween and most recently a grassroots festival organized mainly by members of the Grass is Dead in the Everglades called Swamp Side of the Moon. Between their strong social media presence and their Facebook Street Team Group Team Grass, they have been able to showcase their talents up and down the east coast and bring in substantial crowds even to cities that they are performing in for the first time! Billy Gilmore is well recognized by fellow bands and musicians as a musical virtuoso and accomplished multi-instrumentalist. Over the years, Billy has shared the stage with such greats as Sam Bush, Vassar Clements, Peter Rowan, David Gans, Sue Cunningham, and Jeff Wisor just to name a few. Grass is Dead are ready to bring their happy sounds to new cities up and down the east coast in 2017!
