Pilot 52: Chasing Space
Seven emerging Choreographers present six new dance works made possible by ODCs Pilot program in its 52nd show since its conception over 15 years ago. The Pilot 52 concert Chasing Space, will take place April 5th and 6th at 8pm in ODCs Studio B. The concert will feature works by artists, Blair Bodie, Brooke Broussard, Elizabeth and Melissa Castaneda, Julia Graham, Charles Gushue and Kerri Myers.
In Chasing Space the focus is on the dance. The ODC Dance Commons beautiful, fresh and informal Studio B space, the choreographers will have the unique opportunity and challenge of transforming the space though their work in this low-tech performance. Audiences can expect to be exposed to a wide range of fresh work from these Bay Area residents who have collected here from all around the country. Their work has been seen by Audiences everywhere from New York City and Baltimore, MD, to Juneau, AK, as well as locally at ODC theater, 975 Howard/The Garage, Counterpulse and clubs, parks, theaters, festivals all around the Bay Area. As San Francisco continues to grow into a National Hub for modern dance, it is programs like ODCs Pilot that show us why artists continue to come here to create. The work in Chasing Space does everything from explore our notions of safety and how we achieve it, to simply playing with movement, sound and architecture in the rich space we exist in.
