Bobby Shew at the Bosque
Announcing a new Jazz at The Bosque series created by independent concert presenters Victoria Rogers and Cal Haines begins in February at the brand new Bosque Center at 6400 Coors Blvd. NW. Call 505.881.0636 for information if you would also like to purchase separate tickets for the catered brunch before the concert.
INFORMATION ABOUT THE JAZZ EVENT:
The first event at the Bosque Center features in-demand trumpet-master Bobby Shew (http://www.bobbyshew.com), who flies around the world performing and teaching. In July 2011, he was featured in "Bobby Shew Night in Prague" with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra. An award-winning recording artist under his own name, he also played as a member of the Tommy Dorsey, Woody Herman and Buddy Rich big bands and too many to list here. For Valentine's weekend at the Bosque Center, Bobby is putting together a concert of mostly ballads, music that especially touches him and others. Audiences discover how deeply trumpet can communicate feelings of love found, lost or realized and lyrics expressed as notes from the maestro. His excellent trio includes highly accomplished pianist Jim Ahrend, California virtuoso bassist Michael Glynn and drummer/co-presenter Cal Haines. This will be a compelling experience of jazz, musicianship, artistry, melody and lyrical feeling. The tempos and musical textures will be diverse and there will be no sleepers, but maybe some dreamers and others that lift the spirit aloft. One of the highlights is the romantic favorite, "The Shadow of Your Smile" and of course, a personalized rendition of "My Funny Valentine." Tickets on Brown Paper Tickets are $23 plus fees. Tickets are also available for $25 at the door. There will be an intermission and CDs available.
