RDC Season 6 Kickoff

Relay Dance Collective is proud to announce a new season of dance magic. Since our first show in 2013, this collective has provided Seattle audiences with vibrant, contemporary dance by emerging and established choreographers. We're proud to celebrate what will soon be six years with a season-kickoff performance in September 2017.

The afternoon features new creations and repertory pieces, including:

- A commission by Paula Peters, former dancer with Spectrum Dance Theater & Assistant Professor of Dance at SUNY Fredonia

- New work by collective members: Gabrielle Gainor/Austin Sexton, and Amber Jackson

- An encore performance of choreography by Hailey Burt / Inlay Dance

- "Breathing Required," a trio by Jackie-Lou Breakey.
This piece was originally created for Bellingham Repertory Dance's "Phrasings: In Word + Dance" in 2014. BRD reset the work in 2016 for their 10th anniversary shows at Mount Baker Theatre and Velocity Dance Center.

- A screening of the short-dance film "It can also be this" by Ella Mahler.
"it can also be this" premiered in Velocity Dance Center's Next Dance Cinema festival at the Northwest Film Forum, receiving a 2016 Audience Choice Award. The work is a part of a multi-piece series, including "this and this too" - a 2016 commission by Relay Dance Collective - and "Really, it's this.," which premiered in NW New Works at On the Boards in 2017.
