Griffin and Emma's Summer Recital 2017
Cello and Piano: Celebrate the new grand piano at The Dance Hall, Kittery with romantic cello favorites performed by two of the Seacoasts most virtuosic young performers. Cellist Griffin Seuter is joined by Emma Theberge and Mary Towse-Beck on piano in an afternoon that is sure to delight listeners. They will play the Brahms E minor cello and piano sonata as well as other perennial favorites.
Griffin Seuter is sixteen years old, a rising junior in high school. She began playing cello at the age of four and has since been involved with several orchestras including the Jacksonville Youth Symphony Orchestra, the UNH Youth Symphony Orchestra, a chamber orchestra at the Abendmusik Concert Series, and currently the Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra. She has played in various chamber groups with the Musical Youth of the Portsmouth Symphony program and the Sonad Project. Recently, she was a finalist in the Portsmouth Symphonys Young Artist Competition. She studies under the principle cellist of the PSO, Dorothy Braker. Outside of cello, Griffin enjoys cross country skiing, learning new (and old) languages, and hiking.
Emma Theberge has been playing piano for 11 years, and is going to be a sophomore studying piano performance at the University of New Hampshire with Dr. Hsiang Tu. Previously, she has studied with Christopher Kies at UNH for one year, and Paul Dykstra in Portsmouth for five years. As well as performing solo piano, Emma has enjoyed playing in chamber music, especially at Timberlane High School, and more recently with a few student members of the Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra. She enjoys playing in pit ensembles for musicals, and has played keyboard with Timberlanes performance of Sweeney Todd, and most recently Still Small Theatre Troupes performance of Godspell.
