Speaker Bio
John Singleton is the North American Operations and Sales Manager at Visuray. He travels the US introducing the industry to downhole X-ray diagnostics. Currently, the focus in the US is on the Permian Basin region where Visuray has a 100% success rate. Prior to joining Visuray, John spent several years in Schlumberger working both internationally and domestically in the field as well as in manufacturing and engineering where he gained expertise pertaining to both logging while drilling and wireline tools. John graduated with an Engineering degree from the University of Oklahoma.

Abstract
During well intervention activities, one of the biggest challenges faced is uncertainty about the downhole hardware. Carrying out interventions without understanding the status of downhole equipment can be time-consuming, expensive and ultimately unsuccessful. Downhole X-ray diagnostics offer clear, quick, and reliable insight into what is happening in the well. The primary advantage of X-ray diagnostics is that the radiation can penetrate materials that are opaque to visible light, such as well fluids like oil and brine and some solid materials like cement and sediments. This presentation will discuss the principles of the technique and how the X-ray diagnostic service is performed. To demonstrate its capabilities, we will provide case studies from wells in the North Sea and North America involving diagnosing various downhole hardware. In each case, the X-ray diagnosis resulted in more efficient interventions by providing the understanding necessary to choose the most appropriate course of action.
