Ronald Reagan - Boston's Premiere 80s Pop Saxophone Duo returns to the Lizard Lounge for a reunion performance and celebration featuring comedians Dan Boulger, Ken Reid and Niki Luparelli and accompanied by the sound collage of Barry Rothman aka Radi0Swan and maybe more, but possibly just the aforementioned. You'll just have to take a chance! You won't be disappointed
Ronald Reagan aims to revitalize Americas economy by promoting large tax cuts, moderate deregulation, reductions in inflation, and a revival of 80s pop music. Following undistinguished careers in film, actors-turned-saxophonists Kelly Roberge and Alec Spiegelman recruited an ensemble of Bostons finest rock musicians to the 13-piece ensemble that they named Ronald Reagan. However, only a short time into the bands existence, the sidemen went on strike, violating a band regulation prohibiting critical players from striking. Declaring the situation an emergency, analogous to those described in the 1947 Taft Hartley Act, Ronald Reagan held a press conference in which Kelly and Alec stated that if the musicians did not return to work within forty-eight hours, they have forfeited their jobs, and will be terminated. Two days later, Ronald Reagan fired the 11 striking musicians who had ignored the order to return to work. Historians cite this as one of the biggest setbacks to the power of organized labor in 80s pop cover band history. Ronald Reagan currently performs as a saxophone duo, and is currently seeking Bostons finest (non-union) musicians to complete the band in anticipation of a 2017 tour to Grenada.
Dan Boulger Dan Boulger began his comedy career in late 2004 only one week into his freshman year of college. Quickly becoming a favorite in the New England area Boulger started performing nationally after winning the Boston Comedy Festival in 2006 at the age of 20. He has since received recognition from both audiences and industry alike having performed on Comedy Central, The BBC, and the HBO Aspen Comedy Festival, and most recently has made multiple appearances on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson and Comics Unleashed with Byron Allen. Due to his age he is an ideal college performer and has appeared on several high profile college tours such as the Comedy Central Live and College Humor Live tours and has been able to be the supporting act for many famous comedians including Bill Burr, Louis CK and Zach Galifianakis.
Radi0Swan "Radi0Swan's phonograph subversions of spoken word, found and reshaped sound, paired with improvised collisions with live musicians, will rearrange every single one of your brain cells. You only have so many of those. Come find out why." - Peter Mulvey
Ken Reid is a Comedian He loves horror movies, bronze age comic books, TV, punk rock, pie and pre-Millenium Popular Culture. You'll like him. He has some stand up comedy records out, and has a weekly podcast called TV Guidance Counselor.
Niki Luparelli caresses with her classically trained/abused voice then sucker punches with her bawdy patter and mastery of the absurd, not to mention the ridiculous amount of items she can pull out of her bra like Mary Poppins carpetbag.
