The Imposter Syndrome
Ever had one of those moments where you felt that, "if anyone ever knew what a fraud I was, I'd be completely out of business?" Well, if you have, you are not alone. The feeling is known as the "Imposter Syndrome," and it's at the heart of Lawrence Hennessy's new play of the same name.
Set in a New England state, which, in many ways, resembles New Hampshire, the "Imposter Syndrome" lets us drop in on the Pomfrittes family, a wealthy, conservative, and highly influential political force in Granite State politics. The Pomfrittes are more than ready, willing and able to have their youngest, Randall Pomfrittes, assume his birth right as the latest member of the family to serve as a member of the New Hampshire Congressional Delegation. The only problem is that Randall doesn't want to run. Why? Randall thinks he's an imposter.
Enter Dr.Emily Tardive, an outspoken and flamboyant psychotherapist, who might just be able to convince Randall to throw his hat in the ring. The only problem is That Dr. Tardive has a past that may not qualify her for the job. Come witness the grand flambé as the characters sort out their needs and their truths.
