Teacher's Professional Development at MAD: Art of Scent
Join MAD on a unique visit to International Flavors and Fragrance with Ron Winnegrad, perfume specialist, as we learn how perfumers use colors to explore, analyze, and describe the complex layering of different scent notes in honing their sensitivity to the connections between color and scent. With Winnergrad as our guide, teachers will use images and iconic fragrances to discover how visual associations are made between perfumes and paintings, memories and colors. Participants will become acquainted with different raw materials, learn the adjectives and colors to describe them and use watercolor as the medium to document their synesthetic experience. Finally, teachers will participate in an inquiry-based discussion in the exhibition followed by a hands on book making and narrative writing workshop.
