What to bring:
Please bring to the workshop an email you sent to an influencer/colleague/ collaborator/ curator/funder to which you received no response or a response that was less then you hoped for. Together we will look at common mistakes and best practices, and I will provide new tools for you to improve it for better results.

About this workshop:
Making it in the art world is often about connections. But if you don't know many people, where do you begin? In this workshop led by creative strategist Robin Held, you'll take the first steps towards cultivating professional relationships with gatekeepers, stakeholders, influencers, funders, supporters and collaborators. Whether you're new to town, still finding your way, or more focused on making work than making connections, you'll leave this workshop knowing how to effectively make contact with people you have identified as important to your success.

Workshop will include:
- presentation by Held, with Q & A (1 hour);
- Break (10 min);
- 2 break-out sessions with team exercises, to build both your skills and peer network (20 mins each);
- Break (10 min);
- Group session to review and share exercise results + Wrap-up + Evaluations (1 hour)

About the instructor:
ROBIN HELD is a creative strategist and cultural entrepreneur. Direct work with artists to realize their most ambitious projects is a through line of her career, in roles as varied as curator of more than 100 museum exhibitions and performances, producing partner, advisor to funders, grant writer, and executive. Currently, as Principal, Robin Held Consulting, she advises a client base of artists, organizations, and institutions, across sectors of art, science and new technology. From this vantage she provides creators with new resources, planning expertise, and capital investment.
