The Ugly Duckling
A story from Hans Christian Andersen Music & Script Adaptation by Alyssa Reit
Hans Christian Andersen pays a visit to Newton-Conover Auditorium to share with you the tale of The Ugly Duckling. This delightful story uses harp, french horn and several percussive instruments to depict water, the duck and other colorful elements of this classic fairy tale. The Ugly Duckling will also feature choreography from one of Catawba's most prominent choreographers, the amazing Leanna Bodnar. Hear and see this beautiful story in a brand new way!

What are Fairy Tale Concerts?
With vibrant storytellers and expressive musical instruments, hear classic children's fairy tales come to life through a beautiful combination of storytelling and classical music. Fairy Tale Concerts were created in an effort to educate our children in a fun and engaging way. These concerts are an wonderful way to introduce young people to classical music through the art of storytelling and the encouragement of using their imaginations.
Fairy Tale Concerts for the 2017-2018 year are made possible through a grant from the United Arts Council of Catawba County.
