Speakeasy IV Original monologues written and performed by your community
                    Speakeasy IV
Original monologues written and performed by your community

Back by popular demand, Speakeasy IV  An Evening of Original Monologues will be presented in two shows at Willits Community Theatre on Saturday, July 22 at 8pm and Sunday, July 23 at 2pm. The original monologues are performed on stage by local people who wrote them. Coordinator Don Samson says of the Speakeasy show, now in its fourth year, the bold energy generated between the performers and the audience is special. He says, Its amateurs who give it a special spin, people who dont normally perform in front of an audience, so its dangerous and courageous. The audience encourages the performances. Overall, theres a genuine boldness to it.

The monologues presented this year are funny, touching, honest, playful, engaging and often moving. Jane Camp has the most hilarious python story. Peter Smith is offering up a bucket list trip to Nepal he took with his aging father. Divora Stern returns to when she was 16 and escaping from Cleveland on a road in a series of untrustworthy used cars. Steve Hellman recalls how his deceased younger brother was  crazy-sweet. Bruce Andich ruins Jim Carreys acting career. Emma Jean Good wants you to have a piece of her mind, if you dont mind. Peter Winslow looks back through the eyes of a child at the inconsistencies in adult thinking. Maria Gilardin is chasing a story for radio across Nevada in a beat up old RV--when the story turns and starts chasing her. Also appearing in the show are Mary Burns, William Walls, Don Samson, and Jed Diamond.

Due to the overwhelming ticket demand for shows the past three years, advance tickets are recommended. Tickets are $10 and available in person at Mazahar, 38 S. Main St., Willits; online at brownpapertickets.com; or by phone 24/7 at 1-800-838-3006. Tickets will also available at the door until sold out.

Directed and facilitated by Anne Marie Samson and Don Samson.

Come, watch and listen as your friends and neighbors walk out on the high-wire of the heart, tell their stories and share the magic of their deepest fantasies.  The fourth in a series, this inexpensive local show has a history of selling out -- so get your tickets early!
