CaFA Cinema Nights

CaFA Cinema Nights in a screening series in Brooklyn, NY, designed to share Caribbean films with the community. We love anyone who loves and is interested in Caribbean culture.

CaFA Cinema Nights, is made possible with public funds from the Decentralization Program of the New York State Council on the Arts, administered in Kings County by Brooklyn Arts Council.

For this, the Fifth Edition of the 2017 Series, we will be featuring a film exploring evinvironmental issues in Trinidad & Tobago. Through the stories in A BETTER PLACE, we learn of the work of organizations in Trinidad & Tobago, working with youth and communities, to help facilitate sustainable living environments.

A BETTER PLACE

Directed by award-winning filmmaker Miquel Galofré and produced by Sustain T&Ts own Carver Bacchus, A Better Place, takes the viewer to five communities in Trinidad and Tobago, where people are doing great things, charting their own course and inspiring others to do the same. Each of the featured organizations are also supported by UNDP, GEF, and SGP. The film also features musical performances from home- grown talent.

Infused with local music, stunning visuals complement stories of hope, resilience and survival.

AWA BRAK (BRACKISH WATER)

AWA BRAK (Brackish Water) tells the story of a young woman, Glenda, who lives in a wooden house on the beach. She survives on fish, water and memories. Her search for herself is an intricate game of coping with the past and luring the infinite future.
