She was musically inspired by the greatest Puerto Rican, Cuban, and Dominican artists of the genre, from Arsenio Rodriguez to La Sonora Poncena to Willie Colon. She has been affectionately referred to as a "Salsapedia" for her extensive and ever-increasing knowledge of the history associated with the music, its musicians, and the dancers who have interpreted it. She has been featured at the 10th, 11th and 12th Annual New York International Salsa Congresses, the 1st Annual NYC Big Apple Salsa Festival, the 2nd Annual Hotlanta Salsa Congress, and the 1st and 2nd New Jersey International Salsa Congress, as well as the Women in Salsa Festival here in Seattle.
DJ Yambu (Seattle)
Cesar Sanchez, DJ Yambu, was born in Mexico City. He grew up in a neighborhood where Salsa is a daily ingredient in the lives of all. His family is compiled of dancers, music collectors and DJs. In 2005 he moved to Seattle, and it was here that he became involved with professional dancers, and decided to join E.Mayimbe, a Salsa dance company. Spending time in the social Salsa scene made him want to be a DJ. Currently he plays at several local venues, including Century's All-Vinyl Salsa night. He is also on staff at the number one radio station online, "GOLPE Y BEMBE".
