Jazz Poetry Improvisation Ensemble
Jazz Poetry Improvisation Ensemble is a fusion of performance poetry and jazz. The inspiration behind the project were the jazz-poetry experiments carried out by the Beat Generation poets in the 50s-60s. And the great Langston Hughes' "The Weary Blues" record. The poetry performed is by Taran Singh, and some by the great Langston Hughes. The musicians improvise around the voice and create atmosphere that the context and the tone of the poems call for. Our performances are pure, passionate and in the Moment.
