Say Darling
"Say Darling is a lethal combination of all-star musicians from around New England... Whether its country, jazz, soul or blues, pop rock or juke swing, the band has done what every artist strives to do: They killed it, right out of the gate." Manchester Ink
Say Darling just released their self-titled DEBUT EP, featuring Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Celia Woodsmith, critically-acclaimed guitarist Chris Hersch, virtuosic Hammond organ player Scott Coulter, with veteran rhythm section players Paul Chase on bass and Jared Seabrook on drums. It was recorded and mixed at Woolly Mammoth Studios in Waltham MA, by David Minehan (of The Neighborhoods and The Replacements).
This EP marks a return to electric music for Celia Woodsmith. For the last six years, she has been touring the world with the all-female bluegrass band Della Mae, a Grammy-nominated project that has been featured on every major bluegrass festival and multiple U.S. State Department tours.
Say Darling is Woodsmith's new collaboration with former Girls Guns & Glory guitarist Chris Hersch, another critically acclaimed artist voted among the top roots guitar players nationwide (The Alternate Root). Woodsmith and Hersch set out to create a new band with power and force enough for Woodsmith's vocals, Hersch's guitar playing, and a backlog of songs just waiting for a band like Say Darling to incarnate.
Say Darling takes the listener on a tour through the sounds of classic blues, rock n' roll, and soul... but the introspective songwriting and unbridled instrumental sections leave the listener moved by its modern force. Featuring thoughtful songwriting, powerful vocals, impeccable playing, and a cohesive collection of songs, 'Say Darling' has no weak links. The EP offers fans of roots rock and americana a whole new listening experience that explodes off the record.
