Billy Bishop Goes To War - Show - Gravenhurst
Billy Bishop Goes to War is a Canadian musical, written by John MacLachlan Gray in collaboration with actor Eric Peterson. One of the most famous and widely produced plays in Canadian theatre, it dramatizes the life of Canadian World War I fighter pilot Billy Bishop who was credited with seventy-two victories and billed as the top pilot in the British Empire. This play has won the Los Angeles Drama Critics' Award in 1981, the Floyd S. Chalmers Canadian Play Award in 1982 and the Governor General's Award for English Drama in 1982. Our version has been updated to present an older Billy Bishop reminiscing and recounting his life as one of Canada's most decorated heroes from WW1, with the talents of William Colgate portraying 20 characters, including Billy Bishop and Cameron Gibson on keyboard.
