ARMAGEDD-IT-ON!
UPDATE: you can purchase tickets at the door! Same prices. It won't sell out because this venue is massive! Doors at 9pm!!
Bed-Stuy's Do or Dine and Sound Liberation Front are teaming up again, this time with local watering-hole One Last Shag, to welcome the end of the world with "Armagedd-it-on!", an apocalyptic dance party featuring indie-dance band Rubblebucket, the afro-dub sounds of Super Hi-F, DJs Haruka Salt and Free Radicals on SLF's massive 'Tower of Sound' and live projection artwork by Nuit Blanche.
Building off the sold-out success of Labor Day's 'Rub-a-Grub', Do or Dine and SLF are excited to bring One Last Shag on board to Bed-Stuy's infamous underground venue, The Lab (Electric Warehouse). Do or Dine's culinary rebels will be hosting VIP guests in the Lab's mezzanine, featuring an apocalyptic menu of appetizers and speciality cocktails. Innovative design collective, YesYesNo will be installing interactive light projections for the party.
Rubblebucket is back in Brooklyn from their Northeast tour and excited to reunite with their friends Super Hi-Fi and plug into the 'Tower of Sound'. With the release of their new EP, 'Oversaturated' 2012 has been a banner year for Rubblebucket, gracing the stages of Bonnaroo among countless other festivals, a collaboration with heroes tUnE-yArDs and ?love for a Fela Kuti compilation and a debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
DJs Haruka Salt and Free Radicals will be spinning on SLF's recently premiered 15,000 watt custom 'Tower of Sound'. Rooted in Jamaican Sound System culture, this state of the art audiophile rig was designed to produce clear and concise frequencies from crisp highs to massive and clean lows that will shake the foundation of your soul.
Nuit Blanche (NBNY) will be curating live projection artwork for the event. They collaborate with leading contemporary artists to create immersive experiences that uniquely engage audiences. Nighttime events explore new artistic mediums through site-specific interventions at the intersection of art, technology, and multimedia performance. An ambitious team of curators, designers and cultural entrepreneurs, NBNY develops innovative platforms for artists to re-imagine the built environment.
On a serious note, NYC has been hit hard this past month by Hurricane Sandy. We would like to take this opportunity to contribute to the relief effort. Occupy Sandy will be tabling with information and resources for those who would like to get involved.

Rubblebucket has spent the last four years building a reputation as a band that blurs the lines between psychedelic indie rock, upbeat dance, and radiant, left-field arrangements. The Brooklyn, NY by way of Boston and Vermont band has evolved into something that is "utterly post-genre--horns, synth, guitars, harmonies--a smile-inducing point on the tangent that connects Björk and Broken Social Scene", which is to say that you never know what you'll see or hear next. 2012 has been a banner year for Rubblebucket bringing their raucous live show, along with giant robot puppets and love-tunnels, to larger and larger crowds across the US and receive love and affection from Paste, Rolling Stone, Stereogum, Wall Street Journal, Daytrotter and so many more.
Super Hi-Fi is hard Afro-Dub from Brooklyn led by bassist Ezra Gale (of SF's Aphrodesia). Featuring a double trombone attack, Super Hi-Fi has released two 7" records on Electric Cowbell Records, mixing the rhythmic landscapes of dub with afrobeat and raw rock and funk. "Warm, enveloping, and heavy as lead" says Reggae-Vibes. "Incredible Afro-Dub greatness" says Paris DJs. Super Hi Fi has shared the stage with John Brown's Body, Rubblebucket, Beats Antique, Debo Band, Giant Panda Guerrilla Dub Squad among others.
Do or Dine has been paving an innovative culinary trail in Bed-Stuy since in 2011, receiving wide acclaim for their fun and eccentric approach to cuisine or "fine diving" as the owners coined it. NY Magazine notes, "nothing is as straightforward as it seems. There are (savory) doughnuts stuffed with foie gras mousse, and fried dumplings under a veil of melted cheese an Asian-fied play on nachos." Do or Dine Chef, Justin Warner, was recently crowned the next "Food Network Star" and will premiere his new show on the network this spring.
One Last Shag (formerly Sweet Revenge) opened in September 2008 and immediately stood out from Bed-Stuy's sea of barbershops, bodegas, and storefront churches. Its cozy, stylized digs feature shiny vinyl booths, wood panel wallpaper, a spacious backyard, and a rotating list of hot DJs for its all inclusive crowd. "Babes, boys, booze & the beach... in Bedstuy? Hey One Last Shag Hey. From steamy hot winter dance parties to bikini-clad backyard beach blasts, this spot is becoming infamous for late night fun and summer afternoon antics." - L Magazine. Four years later, One Last Shag continues to evolve and grow within its dynamic Brooklyn neighborhood.
Sound Liberation Front has been hosting music events in Brooklyn since 2007. From underground parties to large scale productions, SLF events have been featured by NPR, Time Out NY, Village Voice and the Wall Street Journal. This year's Coney Island Reggae Beach Party was featured in the 101 Best Things To Do This Summer and Top 5 Waterfront Events by Time Out NY.
