About this workshop: Led by activist and sculptor Humaira Abid, this workshop will help you find audiences and markets for your work. You'll learn strategies for effective communications and how to develop goals, objectives, and an action plan. The workshop will also include discussion of press releases, websites, elevator speeches, and networking to help you build your audience online and in person.

About this instructor: Humaira Abid picks up ordinary images from everyday life and makes them extraordinary. Her basic interest is situations in relationships and their after effects. Some of her work is humorous, some ironical. Her themes are timeless. The presentation is contemporary. She turns, carves, constructs in wood and combines it with different mediums with great skill and detailing.
Abid is one of a small number of female sculptors to rise to the top of her field. Her commitment to her artistic career is illustrated by her continuous pursuit and participation in art residencies, art exhibitions, symposiums and workshops. Abids work has been reviewed by the Seattle Times, the Stranger, KUOW Public Radio, the Seattle Weekly and the Huffington Post. She has appeared in the Strangers Arts & Performances Quarterly magazine, Sculptural Pursuit, American art collector magazine and in-flight magazine of AIR INDIA. Documentaries have been produced on Abid's work by PBS KCTS9 TV Chanel (which got nominated for NW Emmy Awards) and Bellevue Arts Museum, WA, USA.
She has exhibited her exquisite work nationally and internationally including in Malaysia, India, Pakistan, Mauritius, Nepal, Kenya, Dubai, Bolivia, Germany, Russia, UK, USA and won many awards and grants. Abid recently got awarded Artist Trust Fellowship. Her work has been exhibited in prestigious galleries and museums throughout the world and been published in books, catalogues and newspapers internationally.
REFUNDS & CANCELLATIONS
Artist Trust reserves the right to cancel any program. If cancelled, a full refund will be applied. If a participant needs to cancel for a paid program, the following policy will apply:
A full refund can be issued through Brown Paper Tickets if notified 5 days prior to the program date.
A transfer credit of equal or lesser value can be issued (through Artist Trust) if notified within 48 hours of program. Credit will be valid for up to 12 months.
Artist Trust cannot provide refunds for missed classes. Please contact the coordinator if you have any questions regarding specific content of the workshop.
These refund policies are in place because workshops have limited space and this is intended to ensure we are able to offer the space to another attendee if notice is provided far enough in advance.
