Tribu Baharú and La Colombopercutiva at Tropicalia
Tribu Baharú is a Champeta criolla and World music band from Bogotá, Colombia. Champeta was swept away by the ubiquitous Reggaeton in the '90s but Tribu Baharú are part of a wave of nuevas musicas Colombianas based in the capital city who are reestablishing it as a prime force and adding more ingredients to the recipe. La Colombopercutiva is a Colombian band formed in Washington DC that plays Cumbia, Porro and Gaita. Their music preserves the traditional rhythms of the Colombian Caribbean and combine it with bass, saxophone and the psychedelic guitar. La Colombopercutiva, rolling 8-deep, was founded by folklorist and singer Andrés García. They have performed around USA in cultural places and events include the Colombian festival and the Mexican Cultural Institute.
