Spanish playwright Emilio Williams launches "The Chicago Theater Sweatshop"
Emilio Williams, the award-winning playwright from Madrid who recently moved to Chicago, is receiving critical praise for his profound and over-the-top comedies on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean.
Instituto Cervantes Chicago is proud to present the official launching of his new theater company "The Chicago Theater Sweatshop". The company will be dedicated to bringing new, groundbreaking, international comedies to Chicago, while forging creative links with theater artists in our city, New York City, Europe and Latin America.
The celebration will include a dramatized reading of selections from some of Williams' most memorable plays, including "Tables and Beds- An unromantic comedy ", the Spanish hit that will receive its US Premiere this March 2013 at Stage 773, as the inaugural production for "The Chicago Theater Sweatshop." The production will be in English and reset in Chicago.
The event will also include a sneak peek of "Your problem with men", a new comedy by Emilio Williams that will world premiere in 2013, produced by Teatro Luna, the Chicago all-Latina theater assemble.
With the collaboration of company actors Geraldine Dulex, Skye Fort, Mercedes Herrero, Christopher Kauffmann, Mariana Leite, Bryn Packard, Chris Popio, and Abigail Vega.
Free and open to the Public. A reception will follow the event.
