The Lettermen
THE LETTERMEN'S trademark is close-harmony pop songs. This trip formed in the late 1950s and signed with Capital Records in 1961 with their first big hit, "The Way You Look Tonight." This was followed by "When I Fall in Love," which made it to the Top 10 on the Billboard in late 1962.
Tony Butala, the original founding member of THE LETTERMEN, Donovan Tea, who joined the group in 1984, and Bobby Poynton, who joined in 1988-1995 and rejoined in 2011, will be performing the songs we all remember from the '60s and '70s. "Theme from a Summer Place" (1965); "Goin' Out of My Head/Can't Take My Eyes Off You" from the Sandra Dee/Troy Donahue film (1968) -- the first hit record ever to completely integrate two songs as one, and "Hurt So Bad," (1969) were some of their many hit songs.
THE LETTERMEN signature sound made romantic hit standards of love songs such as "Smile," "Put Your Head on My Shoulder," "Shangri-La," "Love," "Traces/Memories," and on and on. Among the 32 consecutive albums which charted in the Top 100 in the United States, four were certified gold. We hope you enjoy a trip down memory lane with this outstanding singing group!
