Event
Sean Grey Intensive Toronto 2017!
ABOUT the presenter:
Sean Grey entered the Dallas BDSM community in the spring of 2006 through Dallas TNG and began his leather journey about a year later at South Plains Leatherfest. In his first year in the lifestyle he doubled his income, lost a wife, took on two slaves, learned a whole lot about SM, and developed the two skills that he most wanted to learn: bullwhip and rope suspension. He believed that he was bulletproof. Over the next two years he proceeded to lose his job, both slaves, and just about everything else (except the bullwhip and suspension bit); he learned that he was not quite as bulletproof as he had previously suspected. Sadder but wiser, he discovered that Dominance would be more work than he originally thought, that even the most dedicated slave cannot fix a broken Master, that this community is compassionate beyond all reason, that SM has little to do with success in relationships, and that here is exactly where he belongs. He is an accomplished photographer, a former staff member at Sanctuary for the Lifestyle Arts, a former leader of DFWBound 2, former member of the NLA-Dallas Executive committee and past leader of Dallas TNG. More recently he was on the board of NARIX for their inaugural event and he is currently the Education co-ordinator for Bondage Expo Dallas and Bondage Expo Denver. Since August 2015, he has been living the live of a rope nomad, traveling, teaching, tying, sharing his love of bondage, sex and SM. He is passionate about his culture, his community, his students and his family.
Class Descriptions Class 1: Friday Sept 8 - 7pm Predicaments for helplessness, frustration and humiliation (3 hrs. - Intermediate) Many of the classic ties incorporate predicaments that focus on pain avoidance and these techniques are broadly understood,, but this class seeks to explore the more emotional side of predicament play, focusing rather on helplessness, frustration and humiliation. We will learn two turnkey predicaments. The Hishi Tengu predicament, and a free standing Affliction predicament where in the bottom can move freely, but will feel afflicted and that affliction will be enjoyed by all (or at least most) observers. Attendees should already be familiar with Hojo cuffs if possible, but the techniques should be easily accessible to all intermediate rope tops.
Class 2: Saturday Sept 9 - 11am Decending traditions (6 hours - All Levels and Appropriate for all kinds of kinky play, not just ropes)
DESCRIPTION: We will push past conventional edgeplay with an in depth exploration of Seduction, Fear, Danger, Pain and Suggestion This class will delve a bit into psychology, but will focus on skills for erotic hucksterism. We will discuss/develop cold reading skills, erotic sleight of hand, and how to create descending energy in a scene where we really confront the shadows in our desires. We will discuss negotiation as anticipation, ways to manage your risks and mitigate dangers, appropriate aftercare, and other ways to mitigate drop. We will also learn some dirty little tricks to use as scene intensifiers and some erotic hacks.
Class 3: Sunday Sept 10 - 11AM Otaku Kinbaku Advanced Suspension workshop (6 hrs Advanced Intermediate/Advanced)
This ambitious intensive will cover 4 topics, each building on the last. 1.A Progressive tension Gote for modern shibari, Biased Attachment for torsions, Managed deflection and recovery, and sustainability. We will also discuss some third rope variations to adapt for body individuality and sadistic intent. 2.Transitional Suspension using some classic exploded positions. This approach uses joint manipulations and integrates with a hip harness. (optional use of a straight arms gote or Gassho) 3.Comparison, Contrast, and Dialecticism in suspension bondage. We will compare some classic approaches to suspension, celebrate the strengths of them individually, and see what might happen when we try to engage them in a hypothetical dialogue. We will discuss how function influences choices and design. 4.Progressive sequential bondage An intentional flexible strategic approach to suspension bondage composition wherein positions and motions are chosen for bondage effect and beautiful suffering rather than showmanship, convenience, or gimmickry. This is really the culmination of all three of the preceding classes. We will address aesthetic fluency, experiential narrative, and learn how to expand (almost) any series or sequence in a meaningful way
Class 4:Monday September 11 - 7pm Because it hurts... (3hrs Intermediate)
We know that most modern Shibari/Kinbaku is edge play, but some of us take it right to the bleeding edge. This class is a thoughtful look at pain, control and risk in rope play. This class seeks to explore and promote the idea that pain and risk are sometimes a desired result of rope play and that they should be used thoughtfully and liberally in rope play as a gateway to understanding and connection between partners/players/lovers/frenemies. We will explore the following facets of pain and risk and suggest when each might be meaningful.
Pain that flows from top to bottom. Pain that flows from bottom to top. Pain/risk as a shared experience. Pain/risk as a ritual/symbolic experience. Pain/risk as escape, intoxication and clarity
The class will focus on both how to think about pain in rope and how to express and experience pain in rope. Bring a few 8m hanks of rope, a partner/player/lover/frenemy, an open mind and the freedom to think and act.
Ties we may cover, toe ties, hair ties, foot ties, constriction ties, pressure point ties and if you know Sean you know that there will likely be rope around a body part that you should never tie.
