Jazz Vocalist Rochelle Rice
Rochelle Rice, Mark G. Meadows, and Tyrone Allen serenade Casa Phoenix on Thursday, July 6! Doors & dinner at 6:30, music at 7:30. BYOB. 100% of ticket sales go to the musicians.
Rice is a jazz, soul, pop, and R&B inspired singer and songwriter. Crowned Best Jazz Vocalist by Washington City Paper and an alumna of Strathmore's Artist in Residence program, she has performed at the Kennedy Center, DC Jazz Festival, and jazz clubs around town. She has also performed with Sweet Honey in the Rock and with Melissa Etheridge. Dedicated to social justice, Rice has sung at numerous rallies, at the opening of the Grand Opening of the National Museum of African American History and Culture, and in honor of Rep. John Lewis, the civil rights hero.
Mark G Meadows is a brilliant jazz pianist, vocalist, composer & actor who was awarded best album (To The People) and composer of 2016 as well as artist of the year in 2014 by Washington City Paper, among many other honors. We are proud and fortunate to have hosted him at the Casa P before, most recently in May, with Akua Allrich and Deacon Izzy.
Tyrone Allen, a bass player, began his musical journey on the recorder as a child, moved on to guitar, then electric bass with his church in junior high, and would never look back after beginning to play upright bass for his high school jazz ensemble. He has played at Bohemian Caverns, the Kennedy Center, and the Blue Note.
