Underground Sound 12/9/12
ABOUT UNDERGROUND SOUND - When's the last time a new music series was established in San Francisco that presented performances in a 70 seat theater? And devoted itself to popular music? And rock. And World music and classical music, individuals, ensembles, acoustic, electric--though mostly acoustic because again, it's a small theater. A concert hall really. Plus, it's in the heart of The Mission with lots of public transit no more then a block away.
> > S H O V E L M A N Shovelman is a junkyard beatnik, a shovel guitar wielding surrealist folk musician. Armed with a collection of pawnshop effects pedals and an old barn-shovel turned slide-guitar, Shovelman plays ol' fashioned folktronica-grooves looped straight out of the ground. The sounds of Mississippi deltablues from the electro-psychedelic future, collide with the antiquated rubble of lyrical one-man-band hoboetry.
> > B R Y A N H I L L Bryan's music is a synthesis of acoustic new wave music, traditional gospel and folk-esque rock.
> > A D A M & A N D R E S Adam Ward (voice and piano), who is a member of the acclaimed SF vocal ensemble Chanticleer, and Andres Vera (cello), who played in the Miami Symphony Orchestra team up for an evening of music that runs from pop to classical and includes original compositions.
