Orthodox Christmas In January - Walnut Creek
In Russia and most Orthodox churches, people celebrate Christmas on January 7 -- December 25 according to the old Julian calendar. In keeping with that tradition, led by its exciting new Artistic Director, Irina Shachneva, Slavyanka Russian Chorus and a select group of women singers will perform a festive series of "Christmas in January" concerts featuring sacred music for men's choir and carols for men's and women's voices from Russia, the Ukraine, Bulgaria, Serbia and Georgia.
