Biology of Bees 2: Global Implications
Presented by Colette Taylor, Master Beekeeper
Have you ever wondered what the difference is between bees, hornets and wasps? Do you know what Neonicotinimides are? Do you know why we are paying way too little for apples and oranges? Biology of Bees (2 of 2) will focus on bees on a global scale. Learn about diseases affecting honeybees, as well as the effect humans are having on bees. As an added treat, we will take a field trip to visit the HiveBio hives at the Center for Urban Horticulture, and possibly get some gifts from he hive.
Before walking to the beehives, anyone who is concerned about an allergy may be tested by our Master beekeeper for reaction. If anyone is known to be allergic, they may remain behind and may ask to be brought back part of the hive (with no stingers).
