Intro to Biology of Bees
Presented by Colette Taylor, Master Beekeeper
Have you ever wondered what the difference is between a male and female honey bee? How bees communicate? Why bee stings hurt so bad? Intro to Biology of Bees (1 of 2) will start with the anatomy of a honeybee, and build up to the interaction of bees in a hive, as well as the different jobs within the hive. As an added treat, we will take a field trip to visit the HiveBio hives at the Center for Urban Horticulture, and possibly get some gifts from he hive.
Before walking to the beehives, anyone who is concerned about an allergy may be tested by our Master beekeeper for reaction. If anyone is known to be allergic, they may remain behind and may ask to be brought back part of the hive (with no stingers).
