Unarmed Stage Combat Workshop
This Dueling Arts International certification workshop is designed to teach Basic Unarmed Stage Combat, taught by DAI Associate Instructor Scott Russell. Learn how to fall, punch, slap, kick (and more!) safely all while telling a story for the stage! After a week of training, there will be a certification test performed on the final day. Tests will be sent to a Fight Master for adjudication, and results of the test will be shared as soon as adjudication is complete. Certifications are good for 3 years after testing.
All classes will be held within NoExit Performance's studio at 55 S. State Avenue. Class schedule is as follows: Tuesday, July 25 -- 6PM-9PM Wednesday, July 26 -- 6PM-9PM Thursday, July 27 -- 6PM-9PM Friday, July 28 -- 6PM-9PM Saturday, July 29 -- 10AM-2PM
*Workshop will be capped at 12 participants* **Workshop participants must be 18 or over** ***In order to be able to test, participants MUST attend every scheduled day of the workshop***
--- Scott Russell is a professional fight choreographer, stage combat instructor, and actor currently based in Northwest Arkansas. He has choreographed shows such as Detroit, The DingDong, Great Expectations, Killer Joe, Hand to God, Twelfth Night, Hamlet, and many more for high schools, universities, and AEA houses. He will be choreographing once again this fall with TheatreSquared for the world premiere of The Champion by Amy Evans. Scott is also a member of the Society of American Fight Directors (AAC), the Society of Australian Fight Directors, Inc., the Nordic Stage Fight Society, the British Academy of Stage and Screen Combat, and Fight Directors Canada (IAC).
