Witness: A Concert in Memory of Pulse Nightclub
In memory of the victims and survivors of the Pulse Nightclub shooting, musicians will perform the Duruflé Requiem, the Agnus Dei from the Pizzetti Requiem, Lili Boulanger's Pie Jesu, and a new piece by Boston area composer Richard Logothetis. Join us for a night of remembrance, community, and solidarity for all who are affected by the senseless violence against the LGBTQ community and other groups facing fundamental challenges to their rights as human beings.
This is a musical concert, but the purpose is to bring disparate communities together in solidarity through art. Feel free to engage with both the visual and aural arts during the performance in whatever way you see fit, whether that be dancing, examining the physical art, or simply sitting and absorbing. Our only request is that you respect others' desires to listen to the music, and refrain from talking during the performance.
Admission is free, however there is a suggested donation of $20, which will go towards helping Old West Church's mission of global equality and MetroWest Opera, a company focused on serving the needs of under-represented artists in the opera world, including women and LBGTQ musicians, among others. If you are unable to attend, but still wish to support this project, you can donate online at metrowestopera.org. When you donate, please type "Witness" in the message box so we can appropriately allocate your gift. Doors open at 6:45pm.
