The King of New Orleans Blues comes to The Old Church on Saturday, August 12, 2017.
Chris Thomas King has long been in the vanguard of Blues music, but with a sound that is all his own. He came of age in his fathers south Louisiana juke joint, and is considered the last major folk blues discovery of the 20th Century when he was discovered in 1985 by a folklorist from the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C. Mr. King has recorded numerous albums and toured internationally for over 35 years.
His new EP Les Bleus Made In Louisiana expresses the spirit of his New Orleans musical roots. Two new original songs on the EP Les Bleus Was Born In Louisiana, which features a catchy New Orleans second-line groove, and I Can Fly a slow burn Jimi Hendrix inspired song, highlights Kings all new show. In addition, Chris Thomas Kings slide acoustic guitar is unparalleled on Robert Johnsons Cross Road Blues.
Chris Thomas King is also an actor and can be seen in celebrated movies including, O Brother, Where Art Thou? and Ray.
