An Evening with Punt on Third (7-25)

Punt on Third is composed of Brenton Haack and brothers Jesse and Jaron Balgaard. As life-long friends, we grew up playing music together, but it wasnt until years after living in other places and playing in other bands that we started working on our current project Punt on Third. Our songwriting is strongly influenced by old-time and classic bluegrass tunes, but with special attention to three part harmony, which we love singing together.

After working to write and record our home-spun EP, Same Old Somethin in early 2016 and playing in various venues around the area, we got together for an extended songwriting weekend last fall in a rented cabin in Finland, MN right on the Baptism River. With the rush of the water as ambient noise and a fresh layer of snow on the ground, we set the foundation for a new batch of songs were really excited to share, one of which is titled Baptism River.

Our goal is to make music that is easy on the ears and refreshing - not unlike being next to a rushing river after a snowfall. We may have a ways to go on that, but we hope were on the right track.
