Lonesome Leash is the solo moniker of Los Angeles-based songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Walt McClements. Known for previous involvement in Dark Dark Dark and Hurray For The Riff Raff, here McClements channels all of his musical experiences into a lean and gorgeously messy solo affair.
"The songs on Precious Futures came out of a two-year period of travel that started when I left my long term home of New Orleans and ended when I wound up settling in the seemingly un-cozy sprawl of Los Angeles," McClements wrote. "During that time, I thought a lot about what the idea of home meant for me: divorced from a place. The songs revolve around this theme of home, thinking about it not as a place, but as a feeling, a feeling that can be manifested from the arms of a lover, from the supposed freedom of the road or from the comfort of old friends."
IN/VIA is the new piano project of Minneapolis musician (and former Dark Dark Dark leader) Nona Invie. Using layers of synthesizers, pianos and samples, Invie creates a warm atmosphere that invites the listener to quiet and look inward.
Sophia Deutsch performs as Paledrone, masterfully weaving live cello with loops and samples. This is an ambient response to the anxiety of our time.
Mind Rider Records is a local micro label, run by Invie and partner Fletcher Barnhill. They have released the most recent recordings of Lonesome Leash and IN/VIA, as well as recordings from Anonymous Choir and LA-based OLGA.
