Pops Orchestra is an opportunity for our orchestral music students to perform works including famous soundtracks, show tunes, Broadway musical selections and rock songs. We will not play any light and frilly Mozart, or the bearded burly Brahms. Instead we will be playing songs representing the dreaded Jack Sparrow, or the illustrious Dr. Frank'n Furter just to name a few. Students will perform in a traditional orchestra pit while functioning as the backing music support to the SPCPA show choir. This is our time to put the bells up, rosin the bow, and dig in to some fun and challenging music that is sure to give us all goose bumps. Also open to students not currently in the Instrumental Music Department, but who play an orchestral instrument. Auditions will take play during your regular arts class periods on Monday, October 15.
All the fun of show choir minus the sparkly trophies. And with the added power of SPCPA's Pops Orchestra sprinkled into the mix!. Perform swing, jazz, pop, movie-themed songs and of course, show music with a little choreographic flair.
