Chuckanut Radio Hour featuring Nancy Pearl, author of George & Lizzie!
Village Books is thrilled to welcome Americas librarian and NPR books commentator back to the Chuckanut Radio Hour. Shell be presenting her debut novel, George & Lizzie, about an unlikely marriage at a crossroads. With pitch-perfect prose and compassion and humor to spare, George and Lizzie is an intimate story of new and past loves, the scars of childhood, and an imperfect marriage at its defining moments.

Nancy Pearl speaks about the pleasures of reading to literacy organizations and community groups throughout the world and comments on books regularly on NPR's Morning Edition.  On her monthly television show, Book Lust with Nancy Pearl, she has interviewed authors as diverse as E. L. Doctorow, Elizabeth Strout, Ann Patchett, and Terry Pratchett.

Nancy Pearls personal and professional lives have been shaped by her love of books and reading. Inspired by her childhood librarians, she went on to become a librarian herself, working in the public library systems in Detroit, Tulsa, and Seattle. She retired as the Executive Director of the Washington Center for the Book at the Seattle Public Library and went on to write the Book Lust series, four titles filled with recommendations of good books to read. She has received many awards and honors, including being the 50threcipient of the Womans National Book Association Award in 2004 and was named Librarian of the Year by Library Journal in 2011. She speaks about the pleasures of reading to literacy organizations, libraries, and community groups throughout the world and comments on books regularly on several Public Radio stations.  When shes not reading or writing, Nancy enjoys long distance walking and spending time with her family.

The Chuckanut Radio Hour's first guest was Erik Larson and has since included Alexander McCall Smith, Elizabeth George, Cheryl Strayed, Sherman Alexie, Tom Robbins and Garrison Keillor, among many others. Tickets for the Chuckanut Radio Hour are $5 and will soon be available at Village Books and BrownPaperTickets.com.
