Botanical Contact Prints on Paper Workshop with Catherine Alice Michaelis
This workshop will provide basic knowledge of botanical contact printing (also called eco-printing) on paper using locally foraged or found plant materials such as leaves and flowers. You will learn how to achieve the best possible print outcome through experimenting with a variety of plants and techniques. Working quickly on a few sheets and surveying our successes, challenges, and differences, what can we learn from each other? Process a second quick batch and see. Each participant will take home 6 - 8 papers each.
Catherine Alice Michaelis is a letterpress printer, book-maker, and writer living in the South Salish Sea near Shelton, WA. She is the owner of May Day Press and was recently featured on Craft in America's "Nature" episode as well as in the solo show "Imprinted and Unbound" at BIMA.
