Battle of the Bards VII
In BATTLE OF THE BARDS VII, three ensembles compete for a spot in Ghost Light's 2013-14 season. Each ensemble has 20 minutes to perform a scene from a new adaptation of a classic work and the audience chooses the winner! Admission includes one vote additional votes are only $1 each. All proceeds support the work of Ghost Light Theatricals.
The cast, crew, and audience will celebrate right after the Saturday performance with drinking, dancing, and voting! At midnight, Ghost Light will announce the winning show and the rest of our 2013-2014 season. A ticket to either performance of BARDS VII or a $1 donation is admission into the party.
THE PLAYS:
Black Vengeance by Nathaniel Porter Directed by Danielle Franich Black Vengeance is a rock opera adaptation of the classic tragedy Othello, replacing the military barracks with a punk band in turmoil, with amps set to destruction by the band's jealous manager.
Clockwork Beauty A Steampunk Fairytale by Andrea Karin Nelson Directed by Elena Hartwell Grimm's classic tale, Sleeping Beauty, is thrown into a dark steampunk world where corsets, clockmakers and kings collide to turn sweet dreams into a nightmare.
In Fear of you I do Shake by Lori Lee Haener Directed by Collin Schreiber Based on Euripides' The Trojan Women, this play looks at the end of the Trojan war as seen through the eyes of rank and file soldiers and the controversy surrounding the Trojan Horse, set in modern times complete with dog tags, army fatigues and MREs.
