A Very-Merry Sci-Fi Christmas Show
Dr. Diabolic and Nerd Nite Phoenix will present a Christmas Holiday Show on December 7th at 7pm, during First Friday in Phoenix Art Museum's Whiteman Hall. The show will feature highlights from the Star Wars Holiday Special, a Darth Santa & Mandalorian Merc Christmas Photo booth and presentation from Star Wars aficionado guest speaker Dustin Diehl. Museum admission is complimentary; tickets to the variety show are $5 and will be available at the entrance to Whiteman Hall and online. New Toys are also being collected for a Charity Toy Drive. The event is all ages and is presented with support from Bookmans Entertainment Exchange.
The complimentary Christmas Photo booth will be available for patrons to strike a pose with Darth Santa and the Bounty Hunter Elves from the Mandalorian Mercs Shonare Vhekaldla Clan beginning at 6pm.
The Star Wars Holiday Special is the infamous 1978 TV movie set in the Star Wars galaxy. Chewbacca and Han Solo visit the Wookiee home planet of Kashyyyk to celebrate the Wookiee holiday Life Day with his family, which includes his wife Malla, his son Lumpy and his father Itchy. As Chewbacca and Han are known Rebel agents, they are pursued by the Galactic Empire, who in the process invade Chewbacca's household. The special is notorious for its negative reception and regret from Star Wars creator George Lucas. It also officially introduces the bounty hunter Boba Fett. Highlights from the special will be played in conjunction with a special presentation from local Star Wars aficionado and former Ignite Phoenix Presenter Dustin Diehl.
New Toys will be accepted and donated to AASK (Aid to Adoption of Special Kids).
Nerd Nite Phoenix is an informal gathering at which nerds get together for nerdery of all sorts (mostly presentations and drinking). Be there and be square: phoenix.nerdnite.com/
