Speaker:Chief of Police Jim Duscha
Chief Duscha has been with the Longview Police Department for 37 years. Jim started as a patrol officer and was also a K-9 officer and a field training officer. Jim was a detective in the major crimes unit and Jim served as the sniper team leader and instructor for the Lower Columbia SWAT Team. As a sergeant Jim supervised patrol, the domestic violence unit, and major crimes unit, and was an administrative sergeant. Jim was promoted to Captain and was the division commander for patrol and investigations. Jim was also the commander of the Cowlitz Wahkiakum narcotics task force and commander for the Lower Columbia SWAT Team.
Jim is a member of the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs, The International Association of Chiefs of Police and on the board of directors for the National Association of CVSA examiners. Jim is also the state Sheriffs and Chiefs advisor for the Washington State Tactical Officers Association (SWAT) Jim is on various other boards in Longview and has coached football and baseball.
Jim has also been appeared in two TV shows depicting homicide investigations he conducted as a detective in Longview. (COLD CASE FILES, and ON THE CASE WITH PAULA ZAHN)
Jim and his wife Kim have a business, (Duscha Investigations) specializing in Human Resource consulting for background investigations and internal investigations.
Jim graduated from R.A.Long High School, Lower Columbia College, and Western Washington University.
Jim has received numerous commendations and awards over the years to include officer of the year, exemplary performance awards, 3 meritorious service awards, 2 outside agency awards, Patriotic Employer award from the Department of Defense and the MEDAL OF HONOR.
