Kung Pao Kosher Comedy Presents... Comedy Returns to El Rio!
Now in its 4th year, this popular and diverse monthly (every 2nd Monday of the month) comedy show features the best of Bay Area comedians and beyond. The show takes place at El Rio in The Mission District where San Francisco comedian and comedy producer, Lisa Geduldig (Kung Pao Kosher Comedy, Funny Girlz), began her stand up comedy career 23 years ago.
The December 10th show features Dan St. Paul, Kurt Weitzmann, Justin Lucas, Eloisa Bravo, and hostess, Lisa Geduldig
Dan St. Paul, after a 7-year stint headlining SF clubs in the comedy duo Murphy-St. Paul, launched out on his own with a solo act that landed him in the finals of The SF Comedy Competition. Having grown up in San Francisco's Mission District, Dan moved to LA and appeared on several episodes of An Evening at the Improv, numerous shows on VH-1, MTV, and Comedy Central. He has opened for Jerry Seinfeld, Natalie Cole, Smokey Robinson, and others. He appeared in the movie "Flubber" with Robin Williams and signed a recording deal with MCA records. His CD, "Natural and Good for You" contains one the most requested comedy pieces on radio, "The First Baseball Game." He also is the star of his own one-man play, "Outer Mission, Middle Class - The Comic Diary of an Immigrant's Son." Corporate clients include Hewlett Packard, IBM, Intel, Nations Bank, Philips Magnavox, Chevron, Blue Cross, and many, many more. Armed with a Bachelors Degree in Italian from UC Berkeley, a teaching credential from San Francisco State, and a Masters Degree in special education, the majority of Dan's material comes from being a suburban husband and father and dealing with the frustrations of everyday life. www.danstpaul.com Kurt Weitzmann, an award winning director and playwright, has been performing comedy for over fifteen years. His act has been seen on Comedy Central, MTV, Clubs and Colleges, numerous comedy festivals, and on the stages of every San Francisco comedy venue ever to come or go. Kurt began doing stand up at the infamous Holy City Zoo where such personalities as Robin Williams and Dana Carvey honed their craft. In between stand up performances, Kurt founded numerous Bay Area sketch groups including Nervous Laughter, which was touted as "Funnier than any given season of Saturday Night Live in the last ten years" by BAM Magazine. He also co-founded Comedy Noir, that holds the distinction of being the only comedy group to perform three different consecutive shows at the prestigious Vancouver Comedy Festival: The Jesus Roast, Hitler Roast, and The Obama Roast (which was commissioned by the festival). In 2010, his short film "Last Call" won best narrative short in the Columbia Gorge International Film Festival. www.kurtweitzmann.com
Justin Lucas, a San Francisco native, began his pursuit of stand up comedy in March of 2011, and after several months of performing at open mic nights, he began appearing at various popular Bay Area venues such as the San Francisco Punchline, Cobb's Comedy Club, and the San Jose Improv. Soon club managers were asking Justin to open for well-known comics including Bobby Lee, Rex Navarrete, and Alec Mapa. Justin has successfully entered a number of comedy competitions, becoming a finalist in local contests like the 2011 Rooster T. Feather's Comedy Competition and the Battle of the Bay Comedy Competition. He was a semi-finalist for the 2012 Tommy T's Comedy Competition and was 4th runner-up in the 2012 Bay Area Black Comedy Competition. His most recent achievement was advancing to the semi-finals for the 37th Annual San Francisco International Comedy Competition. Justin continues to pursue his performance career, while simultaneously working toward a vocation in voice-over, a talent showcased in his live shows.
Eloisa Bravo: Crazy comedy is her thing! Eloisa is a spicy Venezuelan who addresses the urban issues of a single woman. Packed with energy and cuteness, she will make you laugh, assuming you are lucky enough to understand her accent. She has performed at the Punchline, the Purple Onion, Rooster T. Feathers, the Palm Beach Improv, the Miami Improv, the Hollywood Improv, and at the Burrito Comedy Festival 2012.
