Bulla en El Barrio is one of the newest groups performing traditional Colombian music in New York. They are dedicated to performing a single style of Afro-Colombian music, bullerengue, from the Atlantic coast. Their amazing singer Carolina Oliveros and the rest of the choral members will be the singers to the main Bullerengue Singer and drummer Emilsen Pacheco. Emilsen is one of a kind and really the only individual in the bullerengue tradition (and maybe all folk tradition in Colombia) that is transmitting, creating and preserving ancestral sounds.
