June 2017 LAI Luncheon
We appear to be in a renaissance period for landscapes and cities -- with massive investment in new large-scale urban public parks, waterfronts, re-used infrastructures, public squares, trails, and other public spaces in cities around the country. There are a host of beautifully vibrant new parks around the world projects more colorful, well-crafted, inventive and diverse than at any previous point in history. This talk will focus on the nearly 25 years of extraordinary work involved in creating an accessible, connected and magnificent urban National Park for San Francisco, starting with the designation of the Presidio as a National Park in 1994, the remarkable transformation of Crissy Field in 2001, and continuing with the new Presidio Tunnel Tops today.
SPEAKERS: Cathie Barner, Vice President of Park Projects, Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy Kevin Conger, Partner, CMG Landscape Architecture Richard Kennedy, Senior Principal, James Corner Field Operations
