IMPROV III: SCENE STUDY - ONLINE
THIS IS AN ONLINE COURSE USING ZOOM VIDEO CONFERENCING
Whether you're interested in long-form or short-form, the heart of improvisation the solid, two-person scene. What Synergy Theater refers to as the "substantial scene." In IMPROV III we break it apart and rebuild it from the bottom up. We focus on:
1. Scene structure
2. Building and using the environment
2. Character development
3. Character relationship
4. Constructive dramatic conflict
5. Raising the dramatic stakes
6. Truthful emotions and partner connection
The work in this class comes directly from Artistic Director Kenn Adams' book, How to Improvise a Full-Length Play: The Art of Spontaneous Theater. For those with an eye towards performance, this class is an invaluable next step.
