MOCOA BENEFIT
MOCOA BENEFIT
On March 31, 2017 very heavy rainfall caused the 3 major rivers the Mocoa, Mulato and Sancoyaco rivers to burst their banks. Water and sludge flowed into 17 of Mocoa's 40 neighborhoods, sweeping away houses or burying them under debris. This horrific mudslide, has killed over 350 people including many children as well as taking the lives of parents of many, many more, leaving kids with no families.
We can each have a HUGE impact in aiding their recovery. A single dollar goes a long way. In Colombia two dollars can buy a gallon of milk. There is a foundation called Fundacion Uaman Luare that was founded by good people, so we know that every dollar will be spent to directly help the victims of the Mocoa village rebuild their land and protect the futures of the inhabitants.
The Benefit Event will include performances by:
Johnny Graves and the South American Percussion Ensemble Oneness Butoh Rain Ensemble Taiko Claudia Mar Ruiz (shaman healer and quartz crystal bowl performer) Jeannie McKenzie and Jennifer Holland (violin & guitar) Kumi Uyeda (piano)
