******************
9am Wake Up Warm Up (Booty Quake) Get this party started! Begin your day with a 30-40 minute full-body warm-up to shake off yesterdays bumps and bruises, and get your whole body ready to rock another full day of RollerCon insanity. Yoga-inspired stretches, mobilisations, and some more invigorating moves will lead us into some low-stress sock derby skills to warm up our minds, too.
10am Miniature Scenarios (Carmen Getsome) We will break derby play down into several miniature on skates scenarios, where you will practice each action and reaction to very small pieces of the game. These pieces are often the ones that determine who is in the right place at the right time and who is not. Join us for a class that will open your eyes to all the little things you didn't even know were important!
Noon Don't Hate the Off-Season! (Octopus Prime) LUNCH PROVIDED The demands of your sport change as the season changes. So your training should change, too! Learn the 4 basic parts of your season in a lunchtime classroom sesssion, and figure out what type of training to prioritize for each.
1pm Fluid Feet (Tear o'Bite) Improve lateral movement, escape from sticky situations, and build effective strength through focus on your edge work, truck control, and leg independence. This class is aimed at building the skills needed to safely explore unconventional foot motion and balance. Take your edge work to the next level for both blocking and jamming.
3pm Jam Starts (Laci Knight) Who is on the track, how much support you have from teammates, the other team's style, and where you're at in the game all determine how we should set up at the start of a jam. We will go over a variety of ways to set up for success, so you feel confident about your plan regardless of what the other team is doing.
4:30pm Church of Gear (Trish the Dish) SNACKS PROVIDED Casual classroom Q&A about skates and skate gear with a 13-year on-track derby vet who has been a skate tech since 2005, when she helped create the first and best derby-owned skate shop, Sin City Skates. Trish the Dish, an honest and opinionated person with a ton of experience, has helped develop better gear for derby and has tested, tweaked and worked on nearly every product marketed to our sport. So bring your questions about fitting, sizing, maintenance and more.
5:30pm Fearless Jamming (LuluDemon) How to start or ramp up a successful jamming career and have fun doing it! My goal is to help each and every skater be successful and have fun while wearing the star. For skaters just starting to jam, skaters that don't believe they will ever be a jammer or for skaters that have a fear of putting on the dreaded helmet cover. Come and learn mental tricks and skating techniques to aid you in your jamming quest. It will be fun, I promise!
