Workshop Weekend
with Deborah Antoinette Ward
June 30th, July 1st & 2nd
The Events Space, Hamilton House
Friday 6:30-9:30pm, Sat 10-6pm, Sun 11-5pm
From shamanic rituals to contemporary carnival, masks have always been essential to human expression. As sacred objects, masks are connected with the mystery of shape-shifting and journeying into different realms of reality.
Come and explore the physical states of expression that support the Expressive Mask: Movement, Posture, Rhythm and Character Interaction. On Friday evening we will make our own masks! Cost includes materials.
Open to all: the work will stimulate versed performers and beginners alike, through tailored feedback. Deborah commits to creatively stretch each participant, whilst keeping the space creatively safe for experiementation and discovery.
Through the exploration of the physical dynamics of mask, participants will gain techniques that can go on to be applied to creating exciting non-masked theatrical characters too.
