HAT RESIDENT COMPANY 2017
This summer, Highland Arts Theatre is looking for performers of all ages to make up its second annual RESIDENT COMPANY. This new group will receive training in singing, dancing, and acting while taking in the whole scope of the Highland Arts Theatre summer season.
In this re-designed program, a dedicated group will train once a week through July and August with an emphasis on skill building and advanced education in singing, dancing, acting, music theory, reading music, and music analysis.
Music Direction for the summer will be shared by Barb Stetter (Dream, Heart of Steel, Next to Normal) and Chris Mounteer, who is a teacher and Music Director at Sheridan College, as part of the faculty of their internationally acclaimed Musical Theatre Performance Program (Kitchen Party, Sinatra).
Choreography and dance training will be led by Cynthia Vokey (Dream, Heart of Steel, A Christmas Carol), and will teach a different combination from a different style of dance every week.
Rehearsals will be every Wednesday from 6:00 to 9:00pm for six weeks starting July 12th. Additional performance opportunities and rehearsals may be added on a volunteer basis.
There will be $150 in Membership Dues which will cover all program expenses as well as instructor and infrastructure costs.
Included in this cost is admission to all four of the HAT Summer Season productions (valued at $130).
A sub-section of the Resident Company will also be offered: a JR Residents program for performers aged 10 to 13. These company members will meet also Wednesdays from 4:00 to 5:45, with emphasis on movement, music, and beginning acting. JR Membership Dues are only $100.
It is our hope to include a wide variety of performers in this group with differing levels of experience and talents. The Resident Company will be used to represent the HAT in public performances as well as future productions.
