Jo Henley
Boston-based trio Jo Henley is known for fun, rollicking sets. This is a crowd-pleasing ensemble, as evidenced by their winning (by a mile!) the Audience Choice Award at Caffè Lena's 50th Anniversary street music festival. Formed by longtime musical collaborators Andy Campolieto and Ben Lee, Jo Henley is inspired by everything from Hank Williams to The Rolling Stones to Phish. Their most recent album, 2011's Mohawk (Plimro Records), tells the story of Campolieto's hometown of Schenectady to his newborn son. Brimming with everything from historical narratives about events such as the Schenectady Massacre of 1690 and the building of the Erie Canal, to personal and often painful explorations of his own upbringing in the blue-collar city, Mohawk is the band's most accomplished, concise, and exciting work to date.
