THE STUDIO @ SAC: Speaking with Hands a Photography Workshop

Bring Your Own Camera (or smart phone)
Inspired by the Buhl collection of hands in the Hand-Picked exhibition, this hands-on workshop offers an introduction to the photographers featured in this collection and the opportunity to create your own photographs using hands as subject, character or catalyst. This could be any style of photography such as staged, documentary or landscape. This workshop will reinforce fundamental photo skills of exposure and lighting to create compelling photographs.
Note: All camera formats are welcome, but we will be printing images from digital format using an ink jet printer.
Patricia Maurides is a visual artist and educator who recently moved to Sag Harbor. Her photographs prominently feature investigations into origins, both cultural and genealogical. She is frequently a performer in her image tableaus, using projections, scientific imaging, and the natural environment to create work displaying theatrical and cinematic elements. For nearly two decades she taught photography at Carnegie Mellon University.
